Here we stand
a brief outline of the outlook and some of the policies of the
New Communist Party.

The US and Britain have invaded Iraq and have become bogged down in a nasty and bloody occupation.
Every day US troops are being killing Iraqis and in return are being killed and wounded by the Iraqi resistance - and we are being lied to.
Britain must pull its troops out now!
But Britain need not have been involved. Tony Blair and his cliche could have supported the French, Germans, Russians and Chinese, but chose instead to hang on to the coat tails of the US - no doubt hoping for choice pickings from the venture.
Since WWII the US has been the main capitalist power and the leading imperialist country.
It has constantly fought to expand its influence domination.
Until relatively recently it had to do so in the face of another superpower - but a socialist one - the Soviet Union.
Now the USSR is gone, destroyed by a combination of internal economic and ideological problems and outside interference.
US imperialism is now much less restricted. With only its lesser imperialist rivals and the remaining socialist states - which are relatively weak, still really third world.
The US can now attempt, as we have seen in Iraq, to consolidate its control over the oil in the middle east in a way it would not have dared to when the Soviet Union existed.
Such countries that resist, like Iraq did, become in fact anti-imperialist forces - whether they intend to be or not.

So its all about imperialism and oil.
And what about our own country? We have seen where Tony Blair stands - firmly at the heel of George W Bush.
And that is why Tony Blair must go as leader of the Labour Party along with Tory policies - such as Student top-up fees, PFI, privatisation in the NHS, ID cards etc.
In the longer term imperialism and capitalism must be defeated.
And the only real alternative is socialism.
That is the revolutionary take over of the factories, offices and land by the working people and there collective ownership and control.
With a new state structure built and run by working people.
The New Communist Party was set up to try to help bring this about.

Saying no to Blair's wars in Brighton

Saying no to Blair’s wars in Brighton

by Ray Jones

A SUCCESSFUL day-conference was held in Brighton’s Brighthelm Centre recently. It was well organised by a new group called Hands Off – a forum linked with Sussex Action for Peace.
Called “Blair’s Wars”, the conference tried to show the links between the imperialist aggressions in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans.

The day opened with a general session with a number of speakers. Sami Ramadami, an Iraq-born lecturer and writer was excellent on the situation and resistance in Iraq – although his general world view was more doubtful.

David Chandler, a senior lecturer at the University of Westminster, on the other hand, gave a confusing and confused opening. He wanted emphasise the irrationality and personal psychological factor involved in national and international affairs – the unplanned nature of many events. This may be a reaction to extreme conspiracy theory but it is just misleading, if not more so. Fortunately he found little support from the audience, who on the whole seemed to be fairly clear about imperialist plans and ambitions in the world.

As well as workshops and discussion there were stalls from left and progressive local organisations. CND/Sussex Action for Peace, Cuba Solidarity, Palestinian Solidarity, women’s groups, the Green Party, the Socialist Workers’ Party, Respect, the Socialist Labour Party and the New Communist Party were among them. The public sector union Unison supported the conference.

The Hands Off forum is holding another meeting shortly on Iran. More information on this event on www.watchingthewarmakers
